I chose the picture of a texture. My first thought was the beauty of the colors - various shades of rust both dark and light. If you look close enough and hard enough one can actually see an fine sparkle. Above the rust I find peach in various hues - from light orange to cream. If the photo were round in shape it would remind me of a steaming southern summer’s day toward the time the just before the sun sets. A rich and powerful sun!

The second reason I chose this image is has has a certain mystery. Is the texture on an old house, a clap board church, a summer cottage? Is it a wall in some abandoned home that holds the secrets of different family members? Could it be a view from higher ground of an antique bicycle. For me it became the passenger portion of the vintage bike. The bicycle had large wide tires with ample tread to ride through a spring rain. The basket on the front held groceries for the day - a loaf of bread, some apples, and a block of orange/ yellow cheese and fresh flowers. Always the fresh flowers were the most colorful especially the tulips of the deepest purple. The bicycle had a silver bell that never worked properly.

The woman rode the bicycle up steep hills with a paisley scarf tied under her chin in the fall and behind the nape of her thin neck during summer. She lived alone in an over-sized cottage far from the main road. A great oak tree covered the cottage and one would miss the view of the dwelling if one were not familiar with the twisted road …
